Dance Teacher: Oady Dance & Health and Rushymead Ladies
Priti is a Wellbeing Coach and Dance & Fitness Therapist who has been teaching South Asian dance in the UK since 1974, focusing on community and educational sectors.
She has furthered her training in the fitness industry, including achieving a Level Four Cardiac Rehabilitation Coach certification and a Diploma in GP Referral for patients prescribed exercise. Since 2002, she has been working with the NHS, supporting patients with lifelong conditions, including mental health issues, learning disabilities, and chronic illnesses.
During the pandemic in 2020, Priti expanded her qualifications to become a Mental Health Ambassador and Dementia Champion. She also contributed to the NHS project COREPLUS, raising awareness about cancer, high blood pressure, and respiratory diseases within the community through SAHA.
With extensive knowledge and expertise, Priti innovates her approach to meet her clients’ needs. She pioneered Bhangra & Bollyfitness in 1996 and integrates various disciplines such as Yoga, Tai Chi, EFT, music therapy, and MSE into her teachings. An educator in coronary heart disease, diabetes (Desmond 2007-8), mental health, dementia, and other conditions, Priti uses South Asian languages where appropriate. She continues to provide rehabilitation services and teaches fitness to over 40 private clients and various community groups.
Since 2022, Priti has been collaborating with the Aakash Odedra Company as part of their Health & Wellbeing programme (NIHR).
