Aakash Odedra Company has been awarded a Digital Collaboration Fund from the British Council to collaborate with Leicester-based Metro-Boulot-Dodo and Istanbul based arts centre Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası.
In response to increasing restrictions on global travel due to Covid-19, and rising concerns about the sustainability of face-to-face collaborations, the British Council are now looking for new ways to foster international artistic collaboration. The Digital Collaboration Fund supports arts organisations to devise new virtual ways of working internationally, in turn creating a climate-friendly approach to international collaboration and artistic exchange.
Metro-Boulot-Dodo produces high quality arts experiences with a focus on stunning visuals, beautiful storytelling and the use of cutting-edge technology. The project, Cosmoception will focus on research and development, exploring creative ways in which virtual reality can be used to bring live performers in separate countries together for a live audience.
Being awarded this funding, which builds artistic and technological bridges between the UK and other countries, will enable us to strengthen and expand our relationship with creatives in Turkey. This includes inviting our Associate Directors Melissa Ugolini and Gizem Aksu, who Aakash worked with on the creation of #JeSuis, to collaborate in the artistic creation on this project.
Cosmoception will be shared towards the end of 2021.
