Supporting artists through Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Due to the recent updates from the Government we are no longer able to offer our studios to artists.

Dear Leicester Dance Artists,

We are all facing challenging times through this difficult period of encouraged and enforced shut downs.

At Aakash Odedra Company, our offices are still open, and these offices are attached to two small dance studios. Whilst we have shut down our public facing classes for the time being we want to continue to support independent artists in our local dance community.

We have decided to offer, free of charge, our rehearsal rooms to freelance dance practitioners. This offer will be available until at least Friday 17 April 2020. Given that we have shut down our public facing classes, we ask that practitioners wishing to use the space do not use it for public classes but for their own training, rehearsal, practice or video/online session. We ask that any practitioner limit the number of people using the space to no more than 5 people at a time. They should continue to follow the government and Public Health England guidelines at all times. Should anyone feel unwell we request that they do not come to the studios and isolate themselves as advised.

The studio will be mopped with disinfectant first thing in the morning, and we ask that any practitioner using the space vacuum and mop the space at the end of their session (we have the materials here) and dispose of any litter in the bins.

We can only offer this service whilst our offices are open and our staff are able to be here. If the situation deteriorates and we are unable to offer the space, we ask the community to respect our decision and the dynamic situation.

We can offer access in the following way:
Monday to Friday morning session (10am – 1pm)
Monday to Friday afternoon session (2 – 5pm)

Evening or weekend access may be possible but this would be subject to having a key holder available. We are limiting the offer to six hours per practitioner per week to help support as many artists as possible. If you would like to use the space, it would be booked on a first come, first serve basis through a booking form. To request this form, please email

As part of our ongoing mission to support artists we invite the dance community to tell us your needs at this time. We may be unable to help directly, but we may know someone who can, and if not, it could be a healthy discussion for the dance community to address.

Please stay well
