Emily Jackson is Director of Moving Together, a community dance and education company based in Leicester with a national outreach. Emily and her team specialise in delivering Arts Award qualifications to children and young people, as well as providing over 55s dance workshops in various locations in the Midlands. Through her long-lasting contacts with external organisations and institutions, Emily has fostered partnerships with De Montfort University, Curve Theatre, and most recently, Aakash Odedra Company of which Moving Together is Education Producer. Through this collaboration Emily and the team are exploring work across all ages and abilities to increase Aakash Odedra Company’s outreach within the community, whilst also aligning education programmes with artistic projects and works.
Since graduating from De Montfort University with both a Degree in Dance and Masters in Performance Practices, Shannon has worked extensively within the community through projects with Moving Together. As a senior dance practitioner within the company Shannon delivers on a range of Arts Award projects, working in schools to provide access to dance across the city. Since partnering with Aakash Odedra Company Shannon has devised and implemented education projects from primary school partnerships, dance and dementia as well as professional level training within the Aakash Odedra Adult Summer School.
As a senior community dance practitioner with Moving Together, Darcy delivers on a range of projects within the company including SEN work and dance workshops for over 55s. Since graduating from De Montfort University with a Degree in Dance, Darcy’s passion for community dance has continued to grow, especially through the partnership with Aakash Odedra Company where she has developed projects for dance and diabetes as well as the pre professional company Aakash Odedra 2, focusing on the development of young artists within the region.
