Masoom Parmar

Executive Assistant to the Artistic Director

Masoom is a multidisciplinary artist, creative producer, and curator whose practice spans performance, cultural production, and arts advocacy. Rooted in Indic temple and court dances, and informed by training in Haṭha yoga, ethnography, and literature, his work examines the body as a cultural, political, and spiritual site of belonging and resistance.

As a choreographer, he creates works that interrogate identity and reframe classical vocabularies through secular and contemporary perspectives. His performance practice has been presented at national and international venues, exploring movement as a space for memory, multiplicity, and cross-cultural dialogue.

He is the founder of Alif, a creative producing, capacity-building, and artist representation company based in Bengaluru. Through this, he has managed and toured productions internationally, facilitating collaborations across geographies and supporting the sustainable development of artists’ careers.

Masoom also teaches arts management and cultural policy, sharing expertise with emerging practitioners and fostering the next generation of cultural leaders.

As a curator, he has designed and led platforms such as Koi Suntā Hai and The Platform, amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering interdisciplinary connections across South Asia and beyond. He is currently curating Nartisu Hubba, the dance vertical of BLR Hubba, a city-wide festival in Bengaluru.

His contributions have been recognised through fellowships and grants from institutions including Asialink (Arts & Business, Melbourne University), the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA), India Foundation for the Arts, and Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies.

Through art-making, curating, and advocacy, Masoom continues to build inclusive, equitable, and sustainable futures for the performing arts, championing cross-cultural dialogue and elevating marginalised artistic voices.

He currently also works with the AOC team as Executive Assistant to Artistic Director Aakash Odedra, supporting the development and delivery of creative projects, organisational strategy, and cross-functional operations within the company.
