Campaign Manager: Songs of the Bulbul

Aashni Sawjani is a versatile dancer, choreographer, and cultural curator with a deep-rooted passion for storytelling. Currently learning Kathak under the guidance of her Guru Jaymini Sahai, she has over a decade of experience in Bollywood, Afro, Commercial Heels, and Indian Semi-Classical dance. Additionally, she has honed her expertise in Salsa, Bachata, and Swing Dance, blending traditional and contemporary styles succesfully.

Her performance journey has taken her to prestigious venues such as Curve Theatre Leicester (Bollywood Jane, Finding Home) and international platforms, including cultural showcases in Kenya. Aashni is a long-standing performer at Leicester’s annual Diwali celebrations and has collaborated with leading arts organisations like Inspirate Leicester.

As the former lead of the DMU Bollywood Dance Society and founder of Dance with Ash, Aashni has played a key role in mentoring and training dancers, fostering a love for movement within local and student communities. Her passion for dance education extends beyond choreography, aiming to create inclusive spaces for people to express themselves through movement.

Beyond dance, Aashni is a seasoned communications strategist with nine years of experience in digital storytelling, media relations, and event curation. She is the founder of Kahaniyaan, a creative platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of global performance artists and cultural professionals through high-impact content creation. Her work has been covered by media houses with millions of followers, showcasing her ability to blend performance art with compelling narratives.

Currently, Aashni serves as the Campaign Manager on Songs of the Bulbul under the Aakash Odedra Company, where she brings her expertise in content creation, marketing, and community engagement to the forefront.

Her deep commitment to community work and philanthropy is evident in her numerous volunteering roles across Leicester and globally. She has actively supported grassroots initiatives, mental health advocacy, diabetes awareness among South Asians in the UK, and student engagement projects. Aashni’s ability to merge performance, communication, and strategic storytelling makes her a unique artist-communicator, dedicated to preserving tradition while pushing creative boundaries.
