The piece is choreographed by Kathak icon, Aditi Mangaldas, who is renowned for her artistry, energy and for breaking new ground, adding a contemporary twist to this stunning form of Indian dance.

  • Murmur 2.0 & Inked

    21 Jan 2020 The Arts Centre, Edge Hill University, Ormskirk

    A double bill of dance from award winning choreographer and dancer Aakash Odedra. Murmur 2.0 tackles the issue of dyslexia from his own experience, through dance and technology. A combination of movement, footwork and gestures combine with visual technology developed by Arts Electronica Futurelab (Linz, Austria) to enhance the audience’s experience. The second half of the performance is one of scarification and tattoos. Inked, created by Laurence Olivier Award winner Damien Jalet sees the body become a place of transformation, an envelope marked, folded and metamorphosed by its journey through a ritualized space. Immerse yourself in an evening of dance, exploring the body’s limits and powers.

    The world premiere of Samsara takes place at Asia TOPA in 2020. Aakash Odedra Company and Bagri Foundation invite you to experience Samsara, an epic live dance performance created and performed by international artists Aakash Odedra (UK/India) and Hu Shenyuan (China). Drawing on their skills in ballet, Chinese folk, kathak and contemporary dance to create a physical and spiritual performance. Immerse yourself in the energy and skill of these two extraordinary dancers and the live music of composer and singer Nicki Wells (UK/Switzerland), in this epic journey of discovery.

    Aakash Odedra performs solos choreographed by Russell Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Akram Khan and himself and features lighting by Michael Hulls and Willy Cessa. Each solo uses Aakash’s background in kathak and bharatanatyam to create a distinct flavour of contemporary dance.
