Introducing ROOTS, our upcoming five-weekend dance intensive program, for the 2023-2024 season.
The program has a a vibrant ensemble of illustrious choreographers from the global dance industry. Get ready to learn from and collaborate with industry giants like Russell Maliphant & Dana Fouras, Hofesh Shechter Company, Alleyne Dance, Akram Khan Company, and of course, our very own Aakash Odedra Company. - Aakash Odedra Company – Leicester (Curve), 28th – 29th October 2023
- Hofesh Shechter Company – Birmingham Fabric, 25th – 26th November 2023
- Alleyne Dance – Curve (Leicester), 20th – 21st January 2024
- Akram Khan Company – The Place, London, 17th – 18th February 2024
Learn alongside our six exceptional pre-professional dancers who have been selected to receive a full scholarship pathway through the program. The selected dancers, hailing from different parts of the UK and representing a range of dance disciplines, are Jess Bennett, Divija Mellaly, Krishna Priya Natarajan, Holly Jones, and Alexander Carpentier. Each dancer has been chosen for their exceptional talent, dedication, and ambition to represent the future of contemporary dance.
The journey of the five weekends will take you through intensive training in varied styles and techniques, including contemporary dance and elements of classical Indian dance. The workshops will be an integral part of the program, exploring a range of choreographic methodologies and performative approaches. Expect a mix of physical training, improvisational exercises, repertoire and creative sessions to broaden your dance horizons.
