Ruth is a Dance and Drama Graduate from the University of Roehampton. She has worked in arts and dance management for 29 years. Ruth has a wide level of experience in different development roles in a variety of settings and organisations, from dance conservatoire settings: (Royal Ballet School and Central School of Ballet) and dance and arts in community settings: (Dance4, The Brindley Arts Centre, Blaby District Council).
She set up and ran the Dance Development programme for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (2008-2011) supporting the development of training for local dance artists as well as programmes for early years and young people including the now firmly established county youth dance platform, Mass Movement. Ruth was recently the Director of Development for People Dancing the national lead for community and participatory dance in the UK. Ruth has lead workshops in fundraising and development for dance artists as well as been a guest lecturer and speaker for several colleges and universities.
Ruth has worked independently as a fundraiser, mentor and coach and her clients include: Moving Together, Arcane Dance Company, Rutland Youth Dance and Addict Dance Academy. Ruth has most recently been a mentor for the Curve Cultural Leadership programme, Performing Arts Leicester Leadership programme and the Mercury Creatives programme. From 2016-2018 Ruth was also on the faculty at Addict Dance Academy where she taught BTEC Level 3 Business and HND Creative Arts.
In her spare time Ruth is a committee member of SideKick Dance Company a Leicester based dance group for young disabled people. Ruth was a board member at Aakash Odedra Company 2015-2020.
