Professional Company For Young Dancers

Anaya Vasudha @anayavasudha_dance

Anaya has trained with Chitraleka Dance Company from a very young age alongside experiencing opportunities with specialist mentors in styles such as Bharatanatyam. She has graduated from a degree in Sports Therapy at Coventry University and has had professional dance experience, performing in Subhash Viman Gorania’s contemporary choreography for BBC Young Dancer 2017. As a member of AO2, Anaya hopes to gain skills in networking, widen her dance repertoire and learn the logistics of how a dance company can run efficiently, particularly in terms of developing an artistic production.

 

 

Eleanor Wraight @elliewraight_dancer

Ellie is currently working towards her degree in Dance at De Montfort University. In 2016, she toured schools in Dubai performing a Physical Theatre style piece and running workshops alongside. Ellie has previously worked with Luke Brown Dance Company and has also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has a strong interest in Pilates and enjoys the challenge of dynamically demanding choreography.

 

 

Ella McNeil @ellamacneill_dancer

Ella’s training lies in Contemporary and Hip-Hop styles. She is currently studying for her degree in Dance and is also part of an internationally competing, Leicester-based dance crew. Ella has a broad range of experience, inclusive of leading community dance in India as part of a student volunteering programme, performing at various platforms such as Xzibit at Curve Theatre, and dance administration work for a Leicestershire and Rutland regional dance competition. As a part of AO2, Ella hopes to explore the different styles that the company has to offer, aiming to enhance and expand her own movement vocabulary.

 

 

Hannah Tully @hannahtully97

Hannah is a recent graduate from De Montfort University where she studied Arts and Festivals Management and Dance, performing as a part of University Dance Company within her final year of studying. Hannah has experience in Project managing, coordinating and programming at Spark Arts Festival for Children, Curve Theatre and Leicester’s Cultural Exchanges Festival. Hannah is currently a Dance Ambassador for One Dance UK and going forwards, she is particularly interested in Dance Education, Artistic Production and exploring the creative fusion of dance styles seen within professional practice.

 

 

Imogen Cavell-Wells @immycw_dance

Imogen initially trained for a BTEC in Dance at Guildford College as well as attending Trinity Laban Summer School and classes at Danceworks in London to further aid technique development in Contemporary and Ballet styles. Imogen has performed at various platforms including Woking Dance Festival and Xzibit Young Choreographers. She is now studying for a degree in Dance at De Montfort University with an aspiration to become a choreographer and performer.

 

 

Kalliirroi Vratti @kallirroi_v

Kalli started her training in Greece, initially starting out in rope skipping, gymnastics and drama before transferring her skills into ballet, jazz and contemporary classes at the age of 14. She then undertook a foundation year in Applied Arts before coming to study Dance at degree level in the UK. Kalli has previously performed at the 2018 Winter Olympics, singing as part of a choir in the opening ceremony in Athens and also has experience assisting the direction and photography of a theatrical stage production. In her training as a part of AO2, Kalli hopes to focus on her interests inclusive of cultural influences within dance practice and the use of improvisation.

 

 

Liam Bone @liam.b.artist

Liam trained at Leicester College, gaining a Professional Studies in Dance degree before studying for his PGCE. He has since taught Parkour, performed with and assisted the teaching of Curve Young Company and has recently taken part in an intensive professional training programme with Candoco. Liam hopes to gain as much as he can from being a part of AO2, learning from dance professionals and various other Company workers in their respective roles.

 

 

Rebecca Shuter @beckyshuterdance

Rebecca’s training started with her completing IDTA examinations in various styles, making the performers scholarship finals in her Advanced One and Advanced Two Ballet exams before her four years of professional training at Addict Dance Academy. Since gaining a Distinction in her BTEC and HND qualifications, Becky has performed in a touring show in Greece for 6 months, undertaken further training at Broadway Dance Centre in New York and coached Loughborough University Advanced Ballet team in the largest inter-university dance competition. Becky aspires to develop the performing element of her career, aiming to be a part of a touring Contemporary or Jazz company.

 

 

Samantha McDowell @samanthayolanda

From a young teen, Sam was part of competition winning, London-based hip-hop group ‘Ebonessence’. She then went on to study Dance at University, graduating with a First Class Honours degree. Sam has since taught a variety of dance styles and levels in the London community as well as having collaborated with dance companies in their creation of works including an internship with Keneish Dance as an understudy performer for their piece ‘High’ (2017). As a part of Aakash Odedra 2, Sam hopes to gain clarity and purpose surrounding her place within the arts industry through experiencing all elements of Company life.

 

 

Vidya Patel  @_vidyapatel

Vidya has a background in Kathak and continues to train regularly with her Kathak Guru Sujata Banerjee. After graduating from the South Asian Strand of the CAT programme, Vidya represented the South Asian Category in the inaugural BBC Young Dancer Finals. Since, she has worked and performed with critically acclaimed artists such as Richard Alston, Gary Clarke, Shammi Pithia and Connor Scott. Vidya has toured internationally to prestigious venues such as Sadlers Wells, Kamani Auditorium and the Southbank Centre. She is currently an Associate Artist at Deda Derby. Looking forward, Vidya hopes to aid the development of South Asian Dancers in the wider dance industry and develop her own choreographic & individual practice.
