AO Global has SOLD OUT
Building on the success and experience of the Across_Dance workshop series and the global interest in our Aakash Odedra 2 company a new online programme was conceived, Aakash Odedra Global. This online workshop series moves beyond the existing format of dance teaching online to provide the tools required for artists to stand out in the digital landscape.
Spread across ten weeks, the programme is led by a team of four international dance artists: Aakash Odedra (UK), Melissa Ugolini (Italy), Gizem Aksu (Turkey) and Kesha Raithatha (UK). With dancers joining from across the globe to share their learning and experience participants will become part of a global family of dance professionals. As a member of this global cohort you will work with internationally renowned artists and experts from a range of specialisms to explore and develop your dance practice for the future.
Learn in your own time zone
Each weekly three hour session will explore kathak and contemporary dance techniques and contain a flexible hour with guest teachers delving into the art of filming, photography, music composition and conversations. All sessions will be recorded and shared to participants the morning after the session allowing you to learn at your own pace if you are unable to attend the live session.
Financial assistance
We want to engage a broad cohort of international dancers and understand the financial difficulties artists are currently experiencing. We hope to remove the financial barrier of taking part where possible. Therefore, we have subsidised this course to offer it at £100* (£3.33 per hour of teaching time). Means tested financial support and payment packages are also available to further enable a broad range of artists to take part.
2021 is an exciting time to be an artist, adapting to the changing landscape is vital to thrive in this new world. Developing your understanding of a wide range of mediums within an experimental and nurturing environment will give you the tools and experience to continue working and developing your practice. Each weekly three hour session will explore kathak and contemporary dance techniques and contain a flexible hour with guest teachers delving into the art of filming, photography, music composition and conversations.
2020 has evoked a number of emotions in us all in reaction to the world around us; this workshop series provides a holistic approach to learn from your experience and inform your practice. The Road to Nine explores the nine human emotions; with a single session devoted to each: love, laughter, sorrow, courage, anger, fear, disgust, surprise and tranquillity. Working with internationally renowned artists you will learn how professionals have evolved their work in 2020 to continue to lead and innovate. Complimentary resources, additional movement content and other artistic mediums will support each live workshop. You will receive a short filmed exercise ahead of each session to experiment with in preparation for the live online workshop.
AO Global is tailored to those with kathak or contemporary dance experience although novice movers are welcome to join to experiment with, and explore the possibilities of movement you have yet to discover. Through internal and external exploration, you can expand your understanding of dance. For some, this will be an experimental process, please keep in mind that your fellow artists may be trying new movement vocabulary for the first time or observing the process of the body moulding to their emotions in a different way.
Each three hour workshop will run every Monday, 18 January – 22 March 2021, 6pm – 9pm (GMT). All sessions will be recorded and shared to participants the morning after the session allowing you to take part in your own time zone or relive the session anytime in the week.
